Dashboard warning lights

Your dashboard warning lights are your vehicle’s early alert system. They monitor safety, performance, emissions, and critical fluid or electronic conditions. Understanding the most common lights helps you decide when it’s safe to continue driving — and when you should schedule an inspection right away.

Below are common warning and indicator lights found on most modern vehicles. Your vehicle may have additional symbols not shown here; if so, feel free to contact us and we’ll help you identify them.

Common Warning Lights

  • Check Engine – Emissions / engine management fault; can range from minor to urgent
  • Oil Pressure – Low / no oil pressure; shut engine off immediately to prevent damage
  • Battery / Charging System – Alternator or charging fault; vehicle may stall once battery depletes
  • Brake System – Low fluid, hydraulic issue, or parking brake engaged; investigate promptly
  • ABS – Anti-lock brake system fault; normal braking may remain, but anti-lock function is disabled
  • Tire Pressure (TPMS) – One or more tires low (or system fault if flashing/solid combo)

Seeing a warning light you don’t recognize, or one that stays on after startup, means it’s time to have it checked. We can scan systems, verify sensor data, and help you avoid larger repairs or safety risks.
